Add Newsfeeds (RSS) to Joomla

by Elaine on May 29, 2010

You have newsfeeds you want to add to your site but don’t know how?  There are many Components that help you with this but Joomla also has a built in component that allows you to add newsfeeds to your site and mainbody with minimal experience in Joomla and very easy!  I’ll show you how:

  1. Go to any site and grab a newsfeed; example:  http://feeds.feedburner.com/coupon-lover/yJTa
  2. Login to your Joomla Administration Panel
  3. Click on Components, Newsfeeds
  4. Click on Category, create a category name; example:  Coupons
  5. Click on Feeds, create a new feed
  6. Enter in  a name for the feed
  7. In the link, paste in the feed link from step 1
  8. Save.

Done, you’ve created a feed.  How you can these feeds you created here? You can use them in the menus or display the feeds on the frontpage.   If you want to display feeds in your modules, there is a module called Simple RSS Feed Reader (by JoomlaWorks) that works really well.
