Joomla 1.6 – Beez20 Template Module Positions

Joomla 1.6 Beez20 Template.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding the Beez2 – default template that is the default template activated when you first install Joomla 1.6.   Remember that these module positions are only for Beez20.  Each Joomla template has their own module names and positions .  Questions asked are:

  • Where can I find the module positions myself?
  • Where are the module positions for Beez_20?
  • What are the module positions for Beez_20?

So here are answers to your questions regarding the Beez_20 default Template

1.  Where can I find the module positions?

2.  Where are the module positions for Beez_20?

  • If you did question 1, you can see the module positions already, but the font is so faint, even I can barely see it.  So I’ve updated the picture and included it below.  See below for where the module positions are for the Beez20 template:

3.  What are the module positions for Beez20?

  • Along the top of the template there are: position-0, position-2
  • Along the left side of the template there are: position-7, position-4, position-5
  • Along the right side of the template, there are: position-6, position-8, position-3
  • Along the bottom, there are: position-9, position-10, position-11
  • The footer is: position-14

Hope this helps,

Elaine

  1. Hola! Thank you for all your different articles – they are very handy for new Joomla users! I was wondering if you know how to move the top menu into the position 2 AND keep it the same visual layout. I have found that if I move it, it them lists the items. I want the same menu look, but under the header image.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi again,
      Actually, I think I figured it out. I just changed the #header ul.menu in personal.css. Playing with the top margin gave me the result that I was looking for.
      Best,
      d

  2. Hello,
    Thank you for your reply.
    More precisely, I would move the menu below the banner with the same visual layout.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Alanya,
      There is a problem with Beez 20 and their drop down menus. You can check out the post that i wrote here.
      BTW you have a very nice site. But maybe you should remove some of the adsense ads because it’s taking away from the elegance of your site.
      Thanks for your visit,

  3. Hi Elaine,

    Just done my ?tp=1 and positions 6,8,3 on the right side are missing from template, just googled that fact and your site popped up confirming it should be there. Using this template as it stands will disallow me from placing modules on the right side.
    Using 1.7, this was available in previous 1.7 downloads but not this one. Okay so what have I done wrong !!!!

    1. Hi Neil,
      I’ve never seen that problem before. You can try to download the Beez20 Joomla 1.7 template in zip format and install/activate it again. To try to get it working. Let me know if you need help.
      Thanks for your visit,

  4. I used Beez 20 and did add some Modules in position-6. Then I switched just for testing to Beez 5 and back to Beez 20. Then also position-6 seems to be disappeared. However the setting Information close was resetted to open. When you open this then also position-6 returns.

    1. Hi Rinus,
      I assume you are using Joomla 2.5? Were you trying to remove the Close & Open Info links? If you do not want the collapsible menu, you can check out my post here to always show modules in position-6.
      Let me know if you are having problems,

  5. Hi Elaine,

    Indeed I did install last week Joomla 2.5. During my first Joomla exercises I missed the position 6 as explainened in my mail above. I was not yet searching for a way to show the modules always, but perhaps I need this later. Thanks for your very quick response. It is fine that you can droip a questions on this way.

    Regards, Rinus

    1. Hi Rinus,
      Try the post about how to remove the collapsible right menu. After you remove that option you will always see position-6. It’s there, it’s just hiding.
      Thanks for your visit,

  6. Dear Elaine,

    I am in trouble. I am trying to change the banner that is currently on the website actually placing the LOGO to be on the left side of the banner. When I upload the logo directly on a template – it places ABOVE the banner.

    Are you able to help me put the LOGO “over” the left side of the banner?

    Thanks a million!
    Maria

  7. Dear Elaine,

    I am in trouble. I am new at beez20 template and in joomla in general, but I have a question. I am trying to change the text that is displayed in footer: Powered by Joomla (I think it is in footer) , but I can’t seem to find where it is located. I’ve searched all modules, but I can’t find it. Can you help me just by locating it for me, after that I’ll edit it myself.

    Thanks a million!
    Anne

  8. I have a simple question. Sorry that I waiste your time, but some time ago you helped also very quick and good.

    We have our website on Joomla 1.5. How can I add a Dowload document function.
    I found an example with Insert file, but that is not available in my Editor.

    Regards,
    Rinus

  9. I was trying to understand if the left module of the beez20 situated in position 5 is created only for the beez20 or we can do it with any other template?

    I mean: if you go to “sample sites” with beez20 in default you’ll see in the left two switchable menu(australian parks and fruit shop)
    Is there any way to make this type of meny with other templates or is just a beez20 module?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Riss,
      Yes I see the left two tabular menu’s (australian parks and fruit shop). I just did some research on this subject and it looks like the tabular menu function is built into the Beez_20 template. If you look at the template manager – template files you will see that there is reference to position-5 to use a style=beezTabs. You wouldn’t be able to use this module for this purpose but you can look at:-RokTabs from Rockettheme. This is a FREE Joomla 2.5 extension that might suit your purpose.
      You can click here to check out RokTabs.
      Thanks for your visit and hope I answered your question.

  10. Hi my top menu seems to have dropped down a line and is covering the top of the header graphic and leaving a space line above how can I get the menu up a line see

    1. Having taken a look at the original it is in the correct place but it would be better to have it one line up, how can i do this?

  11. Hi there I am just having a question regarding the template.

    After I finished adding everything to my side I realized that my right hand column has moved underneath my main page and I was wondering if you knew of a solution.

    And I am hoping that this site is still active 🙂

    Thanks in advance,

    Rene

    1. Hi Rene,
      Yes this site is still acgtive. I’m just really busy these days. Will try to update my site soon. When you first installed Joomla, did the template look fine? Did you add any modules or components afterwards?
      Thanks for your visit,
      elaine

  12. Hi Elaine,
    Yes when i first started it looked fine and worked fine, but then I took the right “Show Information” “Hide Information” as that was messing with the layout as well and made it look a bit funny. So even when I had some things on the left column at position 7 they appeared fine on the right hand site . That worked fine in the beginning but then I wasn’t sure what caused it to change.

    And I can imagine, thank you for taking your time to reply though!
    Rene

  13. And I added a few modules as well, K2, foxcontact, dj-Image slider, and I re designed the contact page. And oh I was trying to get the logo above the navigation bar and changed this piece of code:
    /* ++++++++++++++ nav after content ++++++++++++++ */
    .left
    {
    padding-top: 0px;
    float:right;
    margin:10px 0px 10px 0%;
    width: 22%;
    position:relative;
    }
    I changed the padding-top to 10px and it screwed up then I instantly changed it back to zero but it didn’t reset it properly :s

  14. Dear Elaine,

    Thanks for this tutorial, it’s great, but actually I have a problem with “Main Menu Bar”, it stays in its position, as you see here in this image:
    How I can push the “Main Menu Bar” up?

    Please help.

    Kind regards,
    Hamad

  15. I am having a problem with positions-9 thru position-11 in beez 2. They are showing up on top of eachother not side by side. Can you give me an idea why?

  16. Which module is for articles ? I am using display news BK and i need to select a module in that. I am using Beez20 ,so which module i need to select if i want to display the articles?

  17. Position 12 has layout like one main and 3 columns below that.. I would like to add 3 more columns below that.. how could this be

    In the site above, i like to add Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai below the 3 already listed.

    How can i modify the template.

  18. Thank God for your module positions instructions. I’ve been looking everywhere for them including forums but couldn’t get ANY straight answers! Thanks sooooo much for posting this!!! 🙂
