I think Origin is a great portfolio WordPress Theme.    It’s filled with tons of features.  I was playing with the theme and when you hover over a picture it automatically flips to the description of the photo.  You can click on the description where it will take you to the Photo post where people can see the description of the photo and leave comments.   Also another little subtle feature is the notification that most posts are loading when you reach the end of the site.  Usually people will wonder why is the site taking a few seconds to load.  A message box comes up and tells the user that more posts are loading.  Once you reach the end of the site and no more posts to display, there is another message that says ‘No more posts to load.’   Go ahead and play around with Portfolio Theme at ElegantThemes.

Prestige by Themeforest

In my previous post I introduced to you the “Prestige” Ultimate WordPress Template.  It’s extreme versatility can transform your website into a premium news, photography, portfolio, magazine website.   Since I couldn’t put that all into my blog title, I know that finding a good portfolio or gallery template is extremely hard – especially a good Wedding photography template.  You want to find a template that will accentuate the qualities of your photos and bring a positive experience to your viewers.  I believe the Prestige WordPress template is one that will accomplish this.  Check out the features here.  The cost to create this website is extremely low.  With all the features you get you expect that the cost will reflect this but it doesn’t.  It will cost you $91 to have a fully functional elegant photography/magazine/news/portfolio website.  Here is the cost breakdown:

Prestige WordPress Theme

1.   $56/year for Webhosting.    To start a website you need to purchase a webhosting and a domain name.   I recommend Fatcow.com.   With your purchase of webhosting you also get a free domain name, unlimited disk space, unlimited email addresses, unlimited bandwidth, host unlimited domains, and more.  The hosting is currently on sale 40% off.  I don’t know how long the sale will last.  Get more details here.

2. $0  for WordPress.   WordPress is completely free open source program.  You can download it at wordpress.org and play around with it to familiarize yourself with WordPress if you have never used it before.

3.  $35 for WordPress Template.  Prestige Template is $35 and this is a one time fee.  Afterwards this template totally belongs to you.  You do not have to pay any additional fees to use the theme on your website.  It’s so worth it considering all the features included in this crazy theme.  Check out all the theme features here.

4.  $150 advertising credits.  Fatcow.com gives you credits for advertising with their partners.   You get $75 in Google adwords credits, $50 in Facebok ads credits, and $25 in Yahoo/Bing ads credits.   Advertising is an important part of your business if you want to get your name out there.  Fatcow.com also will submit your business listing to YP.com (Yellowpages) for free.

So that’s all you will pay to get your website up and running.  After you setup WordPress on your webhosting.  Download the WordPress template – upload, activate and start customizing your theme in WordPress.  So the total cost ( Webhosting + WordPress + WordPress Template) = $91.04.  If you factor in the advertising credits you get for free from Fatcow.com you actually don’t pay anything to make a fully functional website.

Wow, this theme just blew me away.  I can definitely see this template being used for a professional Wedding photography website, to build a portfolio website or your professional photograpahy site.  The whole template is sleek and exudes elegance.    From the demo of the template you can see that you can have multiple categories of pictures such as Style & Fashion photos, Advertising portfolio, Wedding photography, Nature photo album or anything you want.    Click here to view a demo of the “Style & Fashion” Premium WordPress Theme.

Features:

1.   Picture is fullscreen.  Each picture is fullscreen in the background.  If you look closely at the bottom of the screenshot you will see a row of thumbnails.

2.  Thumbnail navigation.  Easy scroll back and forth between pictures using the thumbnail strip at the bottom.

3.  Music enabled.  I do find music annoying on any website so I won’t be using this feature.  Please don’t use this feature either.  It will just bring down the quality of your site.  YOu can easily disable this feature in the theme control panel.

4.  Full Width Menu.  If you look closely at the left side of the screenshot above you will see the word ‘Menu”.  Once your mouse highlights over that word, a whole menu bar slides out to greet you.  It’s a  gorgeous full width menu with a nice overlay effect.  In the menu you can change to different photo categories, FAQ pages, blog posts, contact pages including google map locator and an About page.

5.   Extensive control panel.  You can control the color of your theme (light or dark), easy uploading/editing interface for music audio files, you can disable right click – to present an obstacle from people saving your images and much more, bulk uploads of pictures and much more.

6. Custom shortcodes for slideshows, tabs, faq sections, image previews, toltips, info messages, prettyPhoto, and floating boxes.  When you edit or create a new post, little icons with the short codes are on the toolbar to help you add them into your page or post more easily.  The GUI interface is used instead of remembering words to type in, you can just click a button.

I was looking around for professional photography templates for WordPress and I came across this really nice WordPress template.  It took me a while to understand how to use it because I couldn’t figure out how the pictures were scrolling.  I thought there was a bug with it, but actually it’s just user (me) error.   The “Kin” WordPress theme from Themeforest is a clean minimalistic photography template easily can be used to create a photography blog, wedding photography album, video blogging, your own personal photography album, artists album, or anything that involves lots of graphics.  You can even showcase your art portfolio.  Click here for more details about this theme.

Features of “Kin” Photography WordPress Theme:

1.  Easy scrolling. That’s what got me.  I didn’t know how to scroll across the pictures.  You don’t need to click anywhere to scroll, you just move your mouse to the right side of the screen and the pictures automatically scroll to the right, and similarly on the left.

2.  Add pictures or videos. In your photo galleries, you can either choose to have photos or videos.  The videos scroll along like photos too.  It’s really neat.

3.  Deep Menus. You can have main menus with categories and drill down by category.  You can have as many photo or video galleries as you want.

4.  Extensive backend control. You can manage your photographs or videos easily through the WordPress theme control panel.  You can also manage which are featured albums to show on the front page, slideshow effects, scrolling speed, image width, image height, theme colors and more.

5.  Great support. You can see from the theme page there is a comments link.  You can submit questions and the theme developer will answer them.   He wants to maintain a good star rating so he will respond fairly quickly.

These are great wordpress themes that can help you transform your site into a professional photography blog or to look like a professional Wedding photography site.   The impressive thing is that there is a whole community of photographers using these themes which makes these templates credible.  I looked at all of them and they all look amazing.  Most of them are similar but still will transform your photography site to make it stunning.  I hate to say this but this is the easy way to build a wedding photography website.

Photocrati Prime – This wedding photography theme demonstrates the perfect wedding photography template.  It’s clean, simple and very elegant with the pink and white stripes.   The horizontal filmstrip at the bottom is also customizable to show any wedding pictures you want to highlight from a client’s wedding day.  Every aspect of this theme is customizable.    View the demo.

2.  Photocrati – Lightbox

Photocrati Lightbox is another stunning wedding photography wordpress theme.  This template as well as the others have keyword-rich SEO text footers at the bottom of each page.  The layout is slightly different from the Photocrati Prime.  The lightbox template also has a customizable thumbnail strip along the bottom.  The main display picture rotates and showcases all the pictures you have in your filmstrip.   This Photocrati template is simple and clean to accentuate and focus on the quality of your pictures and stunning wedding photograhy.  View the demo.
