Joomla 1.6 Help – Add Sitename to Title Bar

Joomla 1.6 Help – Improving website SEO by changing the page name in the title bar.  Including site name in the title tag will improve your SEO.   If you look at the title bar which is at the top left corner of your explorer/chrome/firefox window displays the page title of your Joomla 1.6 website.

When people are on your site they want to easily see where they are and what site they are on.  Usually would look at the page title in the title bar.  So it’s important to have a short but descriptive text in the title bar.  It’s defaulted to just show “Home”.  Which is the name of the default main menu item.  If you want to add your site name to your page title, it would tell people immediately where they are.  For example,  I want to change the page title to show:

Wordpress Themes at Cmsmind.com – Home

How to Add Sitename to Page Titles.

1.  Login to your Joomla 1.6 administrator backend.

2.  Click on Site, Global Configuration.

3.  Set the following value:

Site Name = Wordpress Themes at Cmsmind.com

4.  Under SEO settings, set the following:

Include Site Name in Page Titles = Yes

5.  Save & Close the Global Configuration.

After you refresh your website you will see your new page title at the top of every page you navigate to.    It will show your Site name + Menu Item Name.   If you want to change the name of your Menu item, click here to read my post.
