Joomla 1.6 – Change Header image for JM-Rainbow

by Elaine on February 22, 2011

There was a question on how to change the header image for the Joomla 1.6 template for JM-Rainbow.  There are 2 ways to change your header image file.   Do not do both, pick one.  Either:

A.  Upload file to the image directory: (Easiest way to do it)

1.  Rename your new header image file to “header.jpg”
2.  Login to your FTP manager to access your files
3.  Go to directory ‘~/templates/jm-rainbow/images/’;
4.  Rename the existing file ‘header.jpg’ in the images directory to be ‘header2.jpg’ – this is to keep a backup of the existing header image.
5.  Upload your new header image file – ‘header.jpg’.

B.  Rename the image file in your css:

1.  Save your new header image file, example ‘myheader.jpg’
2.  Login to your FTP manager
3.  Go to your ”~/templates/jm-rainbow/images/’ directory and upload your new header image file
4.  Edit the css file – ‘~/templates/jm-rainbow/css/jm-rainbow.css’
5.  Go to the line:

background-image:url(../images/header.jpg);

6.  Change it to:

background-image:url(../images/myheader.jpg);

After you save and refresh your website, you should see the new header image on your Joomla 1.6 website.  Hope that helps!

I have not found successfully anywhere in the google jungle how to insert a background image for the entire page using beez20 on Joomla! 1.6.

Would you know how?

Hi Elaine,

I am new to Joomla and not a programer. Anyway I have to get my website running sao I reached also your useful side.
I have two main questions: [1] Is there a site where I can look and download (if I like) Templates for Joomla v1.6.3? [2] and where to look at the JM-Rainbow Template?

Elaine, I am sure we will read and hear from each other more on your side as it seems very useful. Thank you for now and wish you a good time.
