Managing Modules is a lot easier in. In or in earlier versions, I’ve always had an issue with selecting all the pages that I want to show the module on. If I didn’t hold down the control key properly to select multiple menus, I would accidentally lose all my previous selections and would have to reselect all the menus again. This was a huge tedious task that I always hated. I’m sure this module menu assignment task was a big headache for you too. And I’m sure you know of the other headaches with the . Another headache in was if you created a new menu item, you would have to change all your other modules menu assignments to include the new menu item created, otherwise the module would never show up on that page. Maintenance of my site grew as I created more pages and menus.
These are FIXED in Joomla 1.6!! Now with the new Module Manager, the menu assignment is so much easier. A dropdown list with the following options is available:
- On all pages – Include this module on all pages of your site
- No Pages – Do not include this module on any page of your site
- Only on those selected – Include this module only on the selected pages/menus from the checkbox list of menus.
- On all pages except those selected – You can choose not to display the module on certain pages chosen by you from the checkbox list of menus. ie, You don’t want to show the module on the home page, contact page, about us page, you would select those pages from the checkbox list of menus. Previously you would have to assign the module individually to all the pages (except home page, contact page and about us page). Then when you created a new page or menu item, you would have to remember to assign that module to that page as well. This new alternative solves that problem.
There is a list of all the pages/menus available to show the module which can be selected via a checkbox. You can also toggle your selection.
In an additional bonus, you can assign modules from the menu item screen. This
