Joomla 2.5.8 Tutorial on How to add pagination details to the bottom of a Category Blog.   There are different types of Pagination options in Joomla.  You can choose to display Pagination which includes links to different page numbers and a ‘Start’, ‘Prev’, ‘Next’, ‘End’ links and also Pagination Results which displays which page you are on relative to the number of pages there are.   You can easily change these values in the Menu Item.  Below is screenshot of my Category Blog showing the Pagination Results and Pagination.

Overview of How to Add Pagination to Menu Items

  1. Home Menu Item Before Adding Pagination
  2. Go to Menu Item in Menu Manager
  3. Edit Pagination in Blog Layout in Menu Manager
  4. Option to Change in the Article Global Settings
  5. See Frontend Changes

Steps:

1.  Home Menu Item Before Adding Pagination

In my example, my Joomla 2.5.8 Home Menu Item is a Category Blog.  I want to add pagination details at the bottom for users to easily navigate through the pages of articles available.  See screenshot below of what my ‘Home’ category blog looks without any pagination.

2.  Go to Menu Item in Menu Manager

Go to the Joomla 2.5.8 Menu Manager and edit the menu item you want to add pagination to.  In my example, I am adding pagination to my ‘Home’ category blog which is in my Main Menu.  Edit the Menu Item.

  • Login to your Joomla 2.5.8 Administrator Backend
  • Click on ‘Menus’
  • Click on ‘Main Menu’, edit menu item – Home

3.  Edit Pagination in Blog Layout in Menu Manager

In the Joomla 2.5.8 Menu item, click on the ‘Blog Layout’ to expand the section.  You will see many options here.  You can either change it here or in the Global Article Settings.  If you choose to change the value of the paginations here, only this menu item will change.   If you choose to change it in the Global settings, all the menu items will have the same pagination.  In my example, I only want this Menu Item to have both pagination so I will change it for this menu item only.  If you want to change in the ‘Use Global’ Settings, you can jump to Step 4.

4.  Option to Change in the Article Global Settings

If you want to change the ‘Use Global’ settings for the Pagination and Pagination Results, set the above values in the Category Blog Menu Item to be Pagination = Use Global and Pagination Results = Use Global, then follow the below steps:
