Joomla 2.5 Tutorial – Where is the Module Manager Trash Manager

Joomla 2.5 Tutorial on How to Find the Module Manager Trash Manager.  I will also show you how to purge or restore the deleted modules from the Module Manager Trash Manager.  Once you delete a module, the status of that module changes from ‘Published’ to ‘Trashed’.  So in order to see these ‘Trashed’ status Modules, you simple change the filter ‘Select Status’ to ‘Trashed’.   By default, the Module Manager view does not include deleted modules.

  1. Go to Module Manager in Joomla 2.5
  2. Delete Modules in Module Manager
  3. Change Filter Status to Trashed
  4. Empty Trash to Purge Deleted Modules from Module Manager
  5. Remove Status Filter After Purging
  6. Publish to Restore Deleted Modules from Module Manager
  7. Remove status Filter After Restoring

Steps:

1.  Go to Module Manager in Joomla 2.5

Joomla 2.5 Module Manager is where you control what is displayed on your Joomla website.  Each Joomla template has a Module Map with positions names.  You can place modules in different positions around your site.

  • Login to your Joomla 2.5 Administrator Backend
  • Click on ‘Extensions
  • Click on ‘Module Manager

2.  Delete Modules in Module Manager

I am assuming that you already deleted modules in your Module Manager, but for demonstration purposes, I will delete these 2 Modules from my Module Manager.

  • In your Module Manager
  • Use checkbox to select modules you want to delete
  • Click on ‘Trash

3.  Change Filter Status to Trashed

The status of the deleted modules are simply changed to ‘Trashed’.  You can change the filter to ‘Trashed’ to see your deleted modules.  This is where the Module Manager Trash Manager is.

  • Click on ‘Select Status’
  • Click on ‘Trashed

4.  Empty Trash to Purge Deleted Modules from Module Manager

This is where you want to purge the deleted Modules.  You want to delete them forever from your Joomla 2.5 Website.  You will select the deleted modules and Empty Trash.   Only the modules that you selected will be purged from the Joomla 2.5 Module Manager Trash Manager.

  • Select Modules to purge from Module Manager Trash Manager
  • Click on ‘Empty Trash
  • See a message that says:
  • 2 modules successfully deleted

5.  Remove Status Filter After Purging

Once you deleted the Modules from the Module Manager Trash Manager, you must change the status back to ‘select status’ to see all the active Modules in your Module Manager.

  • Click on ‘Trashed’
  • Click on ‘Select Status

6.  Publish to Restore Deleted Modules from Module Manager

If you want to restore deleted modules back to your Module Manager.  Meaning, you don’t want to delete them and you really want them back, you can publish them.

  • Use checkbox to select Modules to undelete
  • Click on ‘Publish
  • See a message that says:

2 modules successfully published

7.  Remove status Filter After Restoring

After you undelete the modules from the Joomla 2.5 Module Manager Trash Manager, you must change the status back to ‘Select Status’.  That way you will see all the active Modules in your Module Manager.

  • Click on ‘Trashed’
  • Click on ‘Select Status
