3.0 Tutorial on how to unpublish an article from your site. Unpublishing an article accomplishes 2 things. 1. It will not allow users to view this article on your website in page or menu selection, 2. It will allow you to keep your article in your site until you want visitors to view your article again. That way you do not have to delete the article but still keep it until you want to publish it again. It’s very easy to unpublish an article. Once it’s unpublished, you will see a ‘red x’ beside the article signifying it has been unpublished.

The Article Manager manages all the articles created on your website. You can edit, delete, create new articles, publish, unpublish, make a feature article and more.
- Login to your 3.0 Administrator Backend
- Click on ‘Content’, ‘Article Manager’
2. Unpublish Article in Article Manager
There are 2 ways to unpublish an Article in. You can either click on the green check mark, or select the article and click on the ‘Unpublish’ button. Below I will demo the latter.
- Click on the checkbox beside the article you want to unpublish
- Click on ‘Unpublish‘
3. Article Successfully Unpublished
The article has been successfully unpublished. You will see a ‘red x’ beside the articles that are unpublished. A ‘green checkmark’ means it is a published article.
- ‘Red X’ is beside the article you unpublished
- Will see a message:
- 1 article unpublished
Now you will not be able to see the article anywhere on your Joomla website. If you want to publish your article again, go back to step 2 and click on ‘Publish’ button.
