Joomla 3.0 Tutorial on how to remove the breadcrumbs on the frontpage.  You know the text that shows beneath your logo and tells you where you are on your website.  Every time you click on a new link, it will keep track of where you are on your site.  You will a breadcrumb trail of all the pages you visited to get to your current page.   If you want to remove this breadcrumb feature, it is very simple.  You can unpublish it in your Module Manager.  Below I will show you how to do this.

Currently my Joomla 3.0 Website looks like this… with Breadcrumbs:

Overview of Steps to Remove Breadcrumbs from Homepage:

  1. Go to Module Manager
  2. Search for Breadcrumbs & Unpublish
  3. View Homepage and see Breadcrumbs are gone

Steps:

1.  Go to Module Manager

Joomla 3.0 Module Manager controls all the modules that are installed on your site.  Modules display information and are placed in module positions definited by in your template.  That’s why there are template module maps so you can plan where you want your modules to show up.

  • Login to your Joomla 3.0 Administrator Backend
  • Click on ‘Extensions’, ‘Module Manager

2.  Search for Breadcrumbs & Unpublish

There are many modules in your Module Manager so you can scroll through all the modules or search for it in the search box.  I typed in ‘Breadcrumbs’ in the module search box. Then unpublish the module so it will be removed from the Frontpage.  Take note that there are two Breadcrumb modules installed.  I chose the one that is in a position and is displayed on all pages.

3.  View Homepage and see Breadcrumbs are gone

Now when you view your Joomla 3.0 Homepage you will not see the breadcrumbs anymore.  Unpublishing it from the Module Manager will remove it from your site.  If you want to keep the breadcrumbs, just go back to step 2 and click on ‘publish’.
