Joomla 3.0 Tutorial on how to increase the maximum upload file size in Joomla. Currently the max upload size is 10 MB.  You can increase this value to be unlimited or set a higher limit.  All upload file sizes are restricted at most by your web hosting server limit.  If you increased your upload file size and your website still doesn’t allow you to upload the file, you should contact your webhosting provider.

Overview of how to Increase Upload File Size in Joomla 3.0

  1. Go to Media Manager
  2. Go to Media Manager Options
  3. Increase Upload File Size in Media Manager

Steps:

1.  Go to Media Manager

Media Manager is where you upload images for your Joomla website.  You can delete and upload images.  You can create new directories for your images as well.

  • Click on ‘Component’
  • Set the following value:
    • Maximum Size (in MB) = whatever file size you want.  I set mine to 1000
  • Click on ‘Save & Close’

Now you can try uploading your image again if you were having file size restrictions before.  If you are still having problems, it might be because your webhosting put a limit on how big your file can be.

Hope that helps.  Please leave a comment if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Elaine
