How to Change “Welcome to the Frontpage” on Frontpage

by Elaine on April 27, 2010

When you first install Joomla there is a default title on the front page which says ” Welcome to the frontpage “.    Now where is that setting in Joomla and how do we change it?  Assuming that you didn’t make prior changes to the menu such as changing the default menu, this is how you would change this setting.

  1. Log into your administrator account.
  2. Click on Menu, Main Menu *
  3. Click to open “Home”.

Here you will be editing the Joomla “Home” Menu item.  The Left side is the Menu details, but the right column is where you change the parameters.

  1. In the (Home) Menu item edit
  2. Expand the “Parameters (System)”
  3. The “Page Title” is where the value is stored.  You will see ” Welcome to the frontpage “.
  4. Change your “Page Title” name and save your menu item.

There’s another setting there if you want to disable the Joomla Frontpage message totally.

  1. In the (Home) Menu item edit
  2. Expand the “Parameters (System)”
  3. Change the “Show Page Title” setting = No
