Part 2. Configure Dreamhost and Add the Name Servers to Godaddy for Ecommerce Website

I’m creating a new eCommerce Website with Wordpress and Worpress Themes, I just finished purchasing a Domain name from Godaddy and already have an existing webhosting account with Dreamhost.  You can see my Part 1 here.  My next steps are to:

  1. Tell Dreamhost that I have a new domain name I want to add
  2. Tell Godaddy that I have a domain name and I want to host it on Dreamhost
  3. Use the Dreamhost’s one click installs to install Wordpress on my new Website

Steps:

1.  Tell Dreamhost that I have a new domain name I want to add

You need to tell your webhosting provider that you have a new domain name to add if you purchased your domain name somewhere else.  Like what I did, I purchased hosting at Dreamhost and domain name at Godaddy.  Here is a tutorial on how to do that.  I’ve already created a tutorial on my other site – the-webhosting.com and the tutorial is here:

2.  Tell Godaddy that I have a domain name and I want to host it on Dreamhost

In order to tell Godaddy that you have a webhosting server you want to add, you must complete step 1 first.  After you complete step 1, Dreamhost will provide you with the name servers to tell Godaddy where to point your domain name for the hosting.  Here is a tutorial that I already created on my other site – the-webhosting.com.

3.  Use the Dreamhost’s one click installs to install WordPress on my new Website

After you change the nameserver, it will take about 10 minutes for the changes to replicate through.  Once the name servers are complete you can proceed with the one click installs.  Dreamhost and many other webhosting companies now that this amazing featured called one click installs.  This is great because you no longer need to download the zip file of WordPress and install and configure the application manually.  Dreamhost will do everything for you and that’s why it’s called the one click install.  All you do is click on install and WordPress will show up on the other side.  Here is a tutorial that I already created on my other site – the-webhosting.com.

After you complete that, you will have WordPress installed on your web hosting and your domain name pointed to your new WordPress website.   Now on to Part 3, where we/I have to choose which ecommerce Wordpress Theme to use.  Click here for Part 3.

Thanks,

Elaine
