WordPress Thesis 1.8 – Change Length of Featured Posts

by Elaine on May 19, 2011

Thesis Tutorial: I was trying to figure out how to reduce the size of my featured post articles in Wordpress Thesis 1.8.  You know in Thesis 1.8 you can specify how the number of featured posts to show at the top of your blog.  My featured articles were showing as full articles which was taking up way too much room.    I was searching forever, almost 2 hours on how to change the length of featured articles.   I knew it was something simple because I did it before, I just couldn’t figure out how to do it again.  So I’m documenting this more for myself than for you. hahah So I don’t run into this problem again.

1.  Login to Wordpress administrator backend.

2.  Click on ‘Thesis’, ‘Design Options’

3. Under the heading ‘Posts’, excerpt format = “Display post excerpts”

The display setting you select below only affects your features; teasers (if you’re using them) are always displayed in excerpt format.

Save and refresh your site.  The theme control panel clearly explains what this setting is for, I obviously didn’t read it.
