WordPress Export Data

Wordpress is very portable and extremely easy to move your blog to another site.  You don’t need to copy and paste your blogs and categories one by one from one site to another.  Don’t be silly.  🙂  Easiest way is to export your posts, comments, tags, categories and everything else in your existing Wordpress blog to a RSS file and then importing it directly into your new blog.  This is a very easy procedure that requires minimal knowledge of Wordpress.

How to Export Posts From WordPress:

  1. Log into your WordPress administration
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Export
  4. Keep the “Restrict Author” = All Authors
  5. Click on Download Export File.

Done! In 5 steps.  Now you have an exported file all all your posts in your blog.  Take that file and import it back into your new blog.

  1. Log into your new WordPress administration panel
  2. Click on Tools
  3. Click on Import
  4. In the Import Screen, select system – RSS
  5. Click on Browse on the next screen to find your data file you exported
  6. Then click on Upload file and Import.

Done!  You’re all set.  Afterwards you just need to assign a username to all your posts and that’s it.  If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.
