WordPress Plugin – Deactivated Spam Free WordPress

WordPress plugin Help – Well I was wondering why I wasn’t receiving any new comments on my blog.  Thanks to a visitor (Shauna) who emailed me and let me know that there was an error message when they tried to leave a message.  So I tried it out! YEAH!! I was getting an error message:

Please click back and put in the password

This message totally didn’t make sense because there were no password fields to enter in my comments.  So I backtracked through the plugins that I installed.  I was getting a lot of trackback and pingbacks so I wanted to secure my comment section.   I found the culprit.  I installed the “Spam Free Wordpress” plugin which was causing the problem.  I deactivated and deleted this plugin and now the comments work.

Thanks for your patience!!

  1. Hello Elaine,

I was directed to this page after someone saw you had a problem with my plugin. The error you saw was because the password field was not displaying on the comment form, which means the plugin could not authenticate reader comments, as is described here:

I would be happy to modify your comments.php file code so it will work properly with Spam Free WordPress. If you’d like some help please post your request at:

    1. Hi Todd,
Oh wow. I’m sorry if I gave you any bad reviews for your plugin. Your support is amazing that you reached out to me all the way over here. I will have to take a closer look at the installation for this Spam Free WordPress and not give up so easily. I will email you if I have any questions.
      Thanks for letting me know!
