Joomla 1.7 Tips – Embedding Google Forms into your Article
You will have problems embedding any code into Joomla 1.7 if you do not turn on one setting. The Joomla Editor will strip any code you try to embed or in this case when trying to embed a form from Google Forms, you will get a “Loading” message. In fact it’s not loading anything. I wrote a post about this setting in Joomla 1.6 and it is the same in Joomla 1.7. You will need to change the setting in your Article Manager. Here is a screenshot of the error:

Below I will show you how to Embed Google Forms Into your article:
1. Copy Embed link from Google Forms

- Copy the link provided
2. Change text filter settings in Article Manager
- Login to your Joomla 1.7 administrator panel
- Click on Content, Article Manager, Click on ‘Options’ at the right side
- Scroll down, set ‘Super Users’ = “No Filtering”
- Click on Save & Close
- See the screenshot below:
3. Change settings in the TinyMCE Plugin in Plug-in Manager
- Click on Extensions, Plug-in Manager
- Search for ‘Editor – TinyMCE’
- Edit the plugin
- Under Basic Options, Prohibited Elements, remove the word ‘iframe’
- Click on Save & Close
- See the screenshot below
4. Create new article and embed the form
- Click on ‘Content’, ‘Article Manager’, ‘Add New Article’
- Under Article Details, complete the pertinent information relating to your article. For eg
- Title = Google Forms Elaine Cmsmind
- Alias = google-forms-Elaine-cmsmind
- Category = Joomla!
- Status =Published
- Access = Public
- Under Article Text, click on the ‘HTML’ button
- In the HTML Source Editor, paste in the code you copied from Step 1
- Your Google Forms should insert into your Article.
- Click on Save & Close

Now you can go to the Joomla frontend and view the article that you changed in Step 4. You will be able to see the Google form that you embedded in your article.

Hi Elaine,
Thanks for your support. I have figured out the solution. In the Plug-In Manager of TinyMCE Editor, there is a Functionality attribute which has default value as “Advanced” which needs to be changed to “Extended”. This will resolve the above explained Issue. Now i face one another Issue with Marquee Tag Feature, whenever i place this Marquee tag, it is getting cut while saving, is there any alternative for this Marquee feature, if so, kindly suggest me the same.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
Krish
